Fishing Boat Accident near Keti Bandar Leaves One Dead, One Missing; Six Rescued

A fishing boat accident near Keti Bandar, Thatta, has resulted in the death of one person, while six people were rescued and one remains missing, according to local officials.

The incident occurred when a small fishing boat carrying eight people from Karachi suddenly began taking in water while at sea near Pakistan’s coastal town of Keti Bandar. The group had reportedly gone out for bird hunting when the fishing boat lost stability and capsized.

Local fishermen in the area acted swiftly and managed to rescue six occupants from the water. Despite immediate rescue efforts, two individuals were initially reported missing.

Later, rescue teams recovered the body of one victim, identified as Asghar, from the sea. Search and rescue operations are still underway to trace the remaining missing person, with maritime authorities closely monitoring the situation.

Officials have initiated an investigation into the cause of the boat sinking, focusing on possible technical faults and safety lapses. The incident once again highlights marine safety concerns along Pakistan’s coastline, particularly in the Thatta,Keti Bandar maritime zone.

Maritime authorities have urged fishermen and recreational boat users to follow safety protocols and weather advisories before heading out to sea, as rescue efforts continue in the affected area.
