Kuwait Signs EPC Contract with Chinese Firm for Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port

The Kuwait China port project agreement was signed because the Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works and China Communications Construction Company signed an EPC contract to complete the first phase of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port on Boubyan Island.

Kuwait Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sabah described the project as a demonstration of good bilateral friendship, and Chinese officials described the project as a milestone of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and as a contributor to the economic diversification plans of Kuwait.In his speech, the Kuwaiti prime minister referred to the project as the representation of the robust Kuwait-China friendship and collaboration. He pointed out that the strategic relationship between the two nations is based on the years of historical relationship and is currently yielding concrete development results.

Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy, Liu Xiang, explained that the contract was a step forward on bilateral cooperation and high-quality Belt and Road projects. He also stated that the project will help in diversifying the economy of Kuwait and also help in achieving the Vision 2035 objectives of the country.

Deputy General Manager of CCCC Chen Zhong explained that it is the first project in the Middle East that the company has constructed partially to Chinese engineering standards, with the combination of CCCC technology and expertise. He also noted that the port will become a prototype of the China-Kuwait cooperation.
