Karachi Port Trust Handles over 224,000 Metric Tonnes of Cargo in 24 Hours, Reinforcing Pakistan’s Maritime Trade Strength
Karachi Port Trust (KPT) continued to demonstrate strong operational efficiency, handling 224,314 metric tonnes of total cargo during the last 24 hours, according to the Daily Vessel Movement Report released on 06 July 2026.
The latest performance reflects the port’s ability to maintain uninterrupted cargo operations while supporting Pakistan’s growing maritime trade, import-export activities, and regional shipping connectivity.
During the reporting period, 173,968 metric tonnes of imports and 50,346 metric tonnes of exports were processed through Karachi Port, highlighting the port’s critical role in facilitating international trade and ensuring the smooth movement of commercial cargo.
Port activity remained steady throughout the day, with 18 ships berthed and six vessels sailing, while multiple container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, and general cargo vessels were managed across various berths without operational disruption.
Containerized cargo accounted for the largest share of cargo movement, totaling 110,029 metric tonnes, including 96,318 metric tonnes of imports and 14,711 metric tonnes of exports. The port also handled bulk cement, rice, talc powder, and dry bulk commodities, underscoring Karachi Port’s importance as Pakistan’s primary gateway for diversified cargo.
The report further showed that total dry cargo reached 138,514 metric tonnes, while liquid cargo operations amounted to 85,800 metric tonnes, reflecting balanced activity across both dry and petroleum-related shipments.
