Pakistan, Bangladesh Explore Ferry Service and Direct Shipping Line to Strengthen Trade and Tourism

Pakistan and Bangladesh are exploring the launch of a ferry service and the establishment of a direct shipping line to enhance bilateral trade and tourism, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hussain Khan, in Islamabad. The two officials focused on strengthening maritime cooperation and boosting economic ties between the two countries.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Chaudhry said that introducing a ferry service would significantly increase tourism and trade activities between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He emphasized that improved maritime connectivity in the region would contribute to greater economic stability.

The minister further stated that establishing a direct shipping line between Pakistan and Bangladesh would provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade by facilitating smoother and more efficient cargo movement.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to elevating maritime cooperation and expanding trade and economic collaboration. According to the statement, Chaudhry expressed Pakistan’s desire to transform the historical relationship between the two nations into a strong and dynamic economic partnership.

The proposed maritime initiatives are expected to open new avenues for trade, tourism, and regional connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
