Fire Erupts at Container Terminal Near West Wharf Road, Karachi Port

A fire broke out at a container terminal near West Wharf Road at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on Friday, local media reported.

According to initial details, multiple emergency agencies launched a coordinated operation to control the blaze. Teams from the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), Rescue 1122, Karachi Port Trust, and the Pakistan Navy are actively involved in firefighting efforts.

Chief Fire Officer Humayun Ahmad confirmed that foam is being used to extinguish the fire, adding that three fire tenders from KMC along with a water bowser have been deployed at the site.

Fire brigade officials stated that the affected container was loaded with various types of goods, which contributed to the intensity of the fire. Emergency teams are continuing cooling and monitoring operations to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby containers and port infrastructure.
