Fincantieri Expands Croatian Shipbuilding Cooperation for Multi-Role Corvette Project
Italian shipbuilding giant Fincantieri has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Croatian shipbuilding companies Brodotrogir Cruise and Iskra Shipyard as part of its participation in Croatia’s planned acquisition of two Multi-Role Corvettes (MRCs).
The agreements establish a framework for future collaboration in the design, engineering, and construction of advanced naval vessels, supporting Fincantieri’s proposal for the MRC Corvette Program led by Croatia’s Ministry of Defense.
The partnerships are intended to combine Fincantieri’s internationally recognized expertise in naval shipbuilding with the industrial capabilities of Croatian shipyards, while significantly increasing local participation throughout the project.
Under the proposed cooperation, Croatian companies would contribute across multiple stages of the naval shipbuilding value chain, helping strengthen domestic industrial capacity, expand national participation in defense manufacturing, and generate long-term economic and technological benefits for Croatia.

The Memoranda of Understanding were signed during ceremonies held at the facilities of both Croatian shipyards. The events were attended by Mauro Manzini, Vice President of Sales for Fincantieri’s Naval Vessels Division, Mateo Tramontana, Chief Executive Officer of Brodotrogir Cruise, and Roko Vuletić, President of the Management Board of Iskra Shipyard.
The agreements reflect Fincantieri’s broader strategy of building long-term international industrial partnerships through the transfer of advanced shipbuilding skills, technologies, and technical expertise. In Croatia, the company aims to further strengthen the country’s maritime and shipbuilding sector by promoting localization, industrial cooperation, and sustainable capability development.
The initiative also supports the growing defense relationship between Italy and Croatia, reinforcing bilateral industrial and technological cooperation while contributing to the modernization of Croatia’s naval capabilities and the wider European maritime defense industry.
