Adani Ports Secures $1.4 Billion Investment as MSC Acquires 49% Stake in Vizhinjam Port

In one of the largest foreign private investments in India’s port sector, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) announced on Tuesday that MSC Group will acquire a 49% stake in the Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala for $1.4 billion.

The investment will be made through Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), MSC’s port operating subsidiary. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals before completion.

The strategic partnership is expected to strengthen Vizhinjam Port’s position as a major transshipment hub in the Indian Ocean while accelerating cargo growth and operational expansion. According to Adani Ports, the investment will support faster capacity ramp-up and enhance the port’s competitiveness in regional and global shipping markets.

Vizhinjam Port is regarded as one of Adani Ports’ most important long-term growth projects due to its strategic location near major international east-west shipping routes. The company believes collaboration with one of the world’s leading container shipping companies will help unlock additional cargo volumes and improve connectivity for global trade.
