Crude Oil Tanker Carrying 73,000 MT Cargo Set to Arrive at Karachi Port

A vessel carrying 73,000 metric tons (MT) of crude oil is scheduled to arrive at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on Thursday, marking one of the largest single-commodity shipments expected at Pakistan’s premier seaport this week.

According to KPT’s shipping intelligence report, the vessel P Aliki, operated through the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), is transporting the substantial crude oil cargo to support the country’s energy supply and maritime trade activities.

The arrival comes as Karachi Port handled a total cargo throughput of 198,852 metric tons during the last 24 hours on June 10. Imports accounted for the majority of port activity, reaching 142,884 metric tons, while exports totaled 55,968 metric tons.

On the import side, liquid bulk cargo contributed 38,300 metric tons, while containerized cargo remained the leading category overall with a combined volume of 101,992 metric tons. For exports, clinker shipments topped the list at 36,024 metric tons, followed by 18,365 metric tons of containerized cargo.

Port operations remained active with eight vessels berthing during the reporting period. These included container ships OOCL Nagoya, HMM Lime, Al Seef, Lepton, and Al Udeid, along with tankers MT Shalamar and DM Jade. Meanwhile, eight vessels departed the port, including APL Southampton, X-Press Phoenix, and MT Lahore.

KPT is expecting a significant increase in vessel traffic over the next 24 hours, with eleven ships scheduled to arrive. Of these, nine vessels will carry containerized cargo, while two ships are expected to bring 10,200 metric tons of chemical cargo.

Rice export operations are also set to gain momentum, with vessels Puma 7 and NDL Ten scheduled to load a combined 7,000 metric tons of rice cargo on June 12, further supporting Pakistan’s maritime trade and export logistics sector.
