MSC Cruises Opens 2029 World Cruise Bookings for 119-Night Voyage

MSC Cruises has opened bookings for its 2029 World Cruise, a 119-night voyage aboard MSC Magnifica that will visit 45 destinations across 21 countries. Departing in January 2029, the itinerary includes new port calls in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia, alongside established destinations across the Mediterranean, South America, the South Pacific and Asia.

The itinerary includes nine overnight port calls and 15 shore excursions in the booking price. The route reflects the operational scale of long-duration cruise travel, requiring coordinated port calls across multiple regions while allowing additional time for passengers to visit destinations. Travellers can embark in Civitavecchia, Italy, on January 4, with further departure options in Genoa, Marseille and Barcelona.

Australia Features in Extended Itinerary

The voyage includes a circumnavigation of Australia, with scheduled calls in Sydney, Melbourne, Kangaroo Island, Adelaide, Perth, Broome and Darwin. An overnight stop in Fremantle will provide access to Perth and Western Australia’s wine regions.

The Australian leg forms a major part of the itinerary, connecting coastal cities and regional destinations across the country.

New Port Calls in the Pacific and Indonesia

The itinerary introduces Lautoka in Fiji and Timaru in New Zealand, while retaining a call at Milford Sound, known for its steep cliffs, waterfalls and rainforest.

In Indonesia, MSC Magnifica will visit Bali, Lombok and Java, with a new call at Celukan Bawang on Bali’s northern coast. Extended stays at selected destinations are intended to give passengers more time to explore local communities, cultural sites and landscapes.

MSC Magnifica Facilities and Passenger Services

MSC Magnifica, which has recently undergone refurbishment, features the MSC Yacht Club, the cruise line’s ship-within-a-ship concept. Its facilities include suites, a dedicated restaurant and lounge, private sundeck, hot tubs, a grill restaurant and bar, alongside 24-hour butler and concierge services.

The vessel also has five restaurants, 12 bars, a theatre, casino, panoramic lounges, the MSC Aurea Spa and fitness and sports facilities. Onboard activities include live music, theatrical productions, language classes, dance lessons and destination-inspired dining events.

Cruise Fare and Loyalty Benefits

The booking price includes 15 shore excursions, a Dine & Drink beverage package covering house wines, draft beer and selected other beverages served during lunch and dinner, and a 30% discount on laundry services.

MSC Voyagers Club members at Classic level and above are eligible for a 5% discount on the booking price. A limited-time promotion also offers triple loyalty points to members who book by November 19, with points credited before departure.

Implications for the Cruise Industry

The 2029 itinerary combines long-distance sea travel with extended port stays across several continents. Such voyages require coordination among cruise operators, port authorities and destination services to accommodate vessel calls and passenger movements across multiple jurisdictions.

The inclusion of overnight stays and additional regional ports also highlights the role of port infrastructure and destination access in international cruise operations. For destinations on the route, cruise calls can create opportunities for tourism businesses, although the economic impact depends on passenger spending, local participation and port-related costs.

MSC Cruises has not specified in the supplied announcement the full sailing schedule between individual destinations or the total fare for the 119-night voyage.
