Pakistan Launches First Major Ship Bunkering Operation at Gwadar Port, Strengthening Marine Fuel Supply Hub
Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in its maritime sector as the National Logistics Corporation (NLC), in collaboration with Vitol, successfully completed the inaugural commercial ship bunkering operation at Gwadar Port. The operation involved the delivery of 2,500 metric tons of IMO-compliant Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), produced at the Cnergyico PK Limited refinery, to the LNG vessel ENUGU, which is owned by a UAE-based company.
The successful refuelling operation marks the beginning of a new chapter for Pakistan’s marine fuel and bunkering industry, positioning Gwadar Port as an emerging destination for international shipping services. By offering IMO-compliant marine fuel to ocean-going vessels, Pakistan is expanding its role in the regional maritime logistics and energy supply chain while supporting environmentally compliant shipping operations.
Industry stakeholders view this development as a major step toward establishing a modern bunkering ecosystem in Pakistan.
